Situated between the picturesque Quantock hills and the Mendips on the banks of the River Parrett, the Somerset market town of Bridgwater is surrounded by attractive wooded scenery.
Home to nearly 36,000 inhabitants, the town lies on the main transport routes between the cities of Bristol and Taunton and as a result is an important industrial centre in the region.
Historically Bridgwater was a major shipping port, more recently many new businesses and retail parks have been attracted to the area, meaning the town is constantly changing and has a bustling, lively atmosphere.
In terms of nightlife Bridgwater has a lot to offer, with a variety of traditional West Country pubs offering local cider, as well as many quality restaurants and busy nightclubs. There is also a thriving local music scene, with plenty of live gigs taking place at venues around the town.
